For many water and eDNA sampling applications, simple is good enough, so we sought to develop accessible and affordable rapid sampling options for riverine and coastal applications. The two technologies that resulted are the DiP-FAST (Differential Pressure Filtered Accumulating Sample Tube) and AcSample systems. The DiP-FAST is all mechanical, the simplest solution we could come up with to a filter-agnostic, inexpensive eDNA sampler device. The AcSample provides a triplicate pumped solution, with three independent filter/pump/flow sensor manifolds and pressure/temperature logging. Both systems are designed for easy negative control, and include filter-agnostic luer lock attachments on the outside for simplicity and to reduce cross-contamination. Once sampling is complete, preserve your filter as desired, swap in a new filter, and re-deploy.

Filter-agnostic triplicate pumped systems, in shallow and medium depth ratings with pressure/temperature measurement. Includes negative control kit, sampler, and shore cable. Typical flow rates 150-500 mL/minute depending on filter. Automated sampling by time or volume, tethered sampling options available. 5% volume flow accuracy.

A true depth-triggered mechanical water sampler: no electronics, just physics! Available for pre-order in DiP-FAST-S (3-15 m) and DiP-FAST-M (3-55 m) configurations; DiP-FAST-D (50-200 m) coming soon. Use as a depth-specific water sampler or as filter-agnostic eDNA sampler. Optional electronics package to log pressure/temperature or other environmental factors. [Patent Pending]

Creative Commons Open Source design to build your own DiP-FAST-S from plumbing parts! Order a kit and buy the big/heavy stuff locally, or source all parts yourselves: our goal is to help this design become accessible to the scientific and educational community around the world.
Don't have a filter you want to use? We provide a filter kit of 6 re-usable 47 mm diameter filter holders with the necessary adapters to use with AcSample or DiP-FAST systems.
Want something a little different? Contact us and let's talk about it! Deeper, more sensors, more pumps, different modes: all are possible, but need the right user to try it.
